連敗兩場後，灰狼終於在季後賽系列戰第三場取得勝利，121比105擊退火箭，擋下被聽牌的危機，也是相隔14年再度於季後賽中贏球。
灰狼上一次打進季後賽，是在2004年，那時還由賈奈特（Kevin Garnett）當家，之後就再沒嚐過季後賽滋味，直到今年驚滔駭浪下擊敗金塊，才再度加入季後賽的行列。
前兩戰在客場征戰，都由火箭拿下勝利，回到主場狼群強力反彈，火箭進攻第一把交椅哈登（James Harden）依舊銳不可擋，29分、7籃板、7助攻，但灰狼表現更勝一籌。

灰狼有3人得分突破20大關，巴特勒（Jimmy Butler）28分、7籃板、5助攻，提格（Jeff Teague）23分、8助攻，威金斯（Andrew Wiggins）20分，籃板、助攻各5。
不僅如此，中鋒湯斯（Karl-Anthony Towns）18分、16籃板，繳出「雙十」成績單，其中防守籃板就佔了13個，替補出擊的羅斯（Derrick Rose）也攻下17分。

上半場雙方差距不明顯，灰狼只領先1分，哈登從第二節起火力增溫，半場就拿到11分，不過下半場灰狼強力反彈，湯斯第三節獨拿9分，把灰狼帶向雙位數領先。
火箭下半場防線潰堤，第四節也不見起色，讓灰狼把季後賽系列戰的對決，追到2-1，未能在第三戰就取得聽牌權。
